All items are shipped by first class standard delivery within the UK as this is the most reasonable priced service available. If you require First Class Recorded Delivery, Special Delivery or a courier service for any reason please get in touch, but be aware that additional costs may apply. Bete Noire may use an alternative shipping method from time to time. Please email for more details.
International orders (any destination outside of the UK) will be shipped by standard airmail as tracked services for international parcels can be very expensive. If you are outside the UK and would prefer to have your parcel sent by any other service please use the Contact Page to ask for more details before ordering.
All shipping costs are calculated according to current Royal Mail prices, and this may be subject to change as their prices increase, and also include a nominal fee for packaging.
Missing or damaged items
Bete Noire always aim to package items safely to ensure no damage occurs in transit, but sometimes accidents happen. If your item reaches you in less than ideal condition please notify Bete Noire immediately so this can be put right. Failure to do so may result in Bete Noire being unable to rectify the problem. Damage due to excessive wear, improper care or prolonged display cannot be considered for credit. Your statutory rights are not affected.
When your item is shipped you will receive a notification from Paypal on the email account you provide. Please allow 2-4 working days from this time for your parcel to arrive. If the waiting time exceeds this period please notify Bete Noire as soon as possible. I retain all proof of postage and so I am usually able to locate your parcel immediately.

You may cancel your contract at any time within a 7 day period after the date which the order was received. To do this please use the Contact Page to send Bete Noire an email. You do not have to give any reason in order to cancel, but providing a brief explanation will help to improve customer service in the future.
If you cancel you must return the goods to Bete Noire at your own expense, and ensure that the items are packaged well to avoid any damage whilst in transit. If you fail to return the items Bete Noire will arrange to collect them and therefore must charge for the cost of collection. If you fail to take reasonable care of the items before they are returned, and this results in damage or unreasonable wear, you may be charged for the reduction in value.
Upon cancellation you will receive the refund within 30 days. This cancellation does not affect your legal rights.
Refunds and returns
Buying any item online can have it's problems, and although Bete Noire always aims to make this experience easy sometimes things can go wrong. Should you receive your items and they are faulty in any way please notify Bete Noire within 3 days of receipt of the parcel so I can offer a repair or exchange within 10 days of receipt of the goods.
Once a return has been agreed upon please return the item/s together with the delivery note (please write on the delivery note any information you feel is relevant) in the condition you received them, i.e. with all original packaging, etc. Bete Noire also expects that the product itself should be in the same state as when it reached you, and is defined as such when it is unworn/unused and have all original labels attached. Bete Noire always advises that you use a tracked service that provides free proof of postage, for example Recorded Delivery, at your own expense. The description given of the problems with the product should always be accurate (i.e. no more damaged than already discussed) otherwise a refund will not be permitted. Refund of postage costs cannot be offered.
PLEASE NOTE if an parcel does not reach Bete Noire we will be unable to proceed with the refund/exchange/repair. This is why a tracked postal service is always preferred.
As all items are made to order refunds cannot be offered for any other reason. Earrings (and any other pierced jewellery) cannot be returned for hygiene reasons.
Custom items will not be refunded or exchanged unless faulty therefore Bete Noire asks all customers to be certain of their choices before a purchase is made. If you have any questions or need any help placing your order it is always best to get in touch first by using the Contact Page. Shipping costs are non-refundable.
Any items returned for any reason without prior arrangement or notification will be deemed an unauthorised return and will be shipped back to you at your expense. This may include any parcel returned by the Post Office where the customer has failed to collect it from their local sorting office or when an incorrect address has been provided.
Please be aware that none of the jewellery items available can be guaranteed as nickel-free. If this is a problem please get in touch to see what alternatives are on offer. For any nickel-free jewellery components there may be an additional cost.
Items may differ (i.e. charms, sizes and colour) as all items are handmade. Please ensure you always clearly state your preferences.
